STRING N THINGS

Currently in the process of building back up equipment in purpose built area for recording sounds. Being able to work and record at University is a step in a great direction however its often very easy to rush.

    • Guitars are back up to specs of actually being able to play out.

  • Jumbo
  • Electric
  • Acoustic studio
  • Bass
  • Nylon String
  • Numark Direct Drive
  • Mac & PC Computer
  • MIDI keyboard
  • Large Screen Board
  • 20 Watt Tube Amp Head.

The stages of development are based around the real time realities of what i don't need at the moment inclusive of a digital mixing board. Interface wise being MIDI in's and out's and Mics i'm a tentative sit and wait for a deal. Items such a monitors and amps are being substituted although considering an electronic drum kit instead of other live shells.

We do have the area in the back that could be used via snake - however, direct in puts on an interface are quieter. Working on the basis of having been in practice rooms A. People getting their own sounds B. More electrical equipment has potential to create further issues C. Large amps don't always work better on stages.

Having mostly watched live acts for pleasure of working out what i would do in terms of a set up remember the days of three guitarist on stage, two sets of boards being onstage and house in which the use of monitors are generally appalling. Never been one for use of in ears either although at some point did rush in to purchase a $600 pair i no longer use [sat in an empty cup somewhere in the cupboard]. Stereo headphone mixes have always been my thing when recording any band live so likely better off purchasing a well priced headphone stack and for the most prefer mixing with headphones on.

For those who have followed this website for a number of years may remember me moaning about the 2007 Pro Logic i'd purchased and lost when Apple updated to OS 11 sat there at 5 am in the morning [Now you use it, now you don't].

I'll likely be going with Pro Tools still being somewhat industry standard and available at the discount of a student.

Dependent on exactly when and why anything is being recorded feel the nylon string and desk mic are often just as good in choices for anything surmising you have some songs. Taking a look at the electrical leads in the photograph above is based off only a number of items plugged in [The more you have the more mess you'll know].

Any road up as they've stated - its a sure find thing i'll do something and been working on the Polyphonic Pure Data with Equaliser built today. Plug in's even on GarageBand decent in terms of anything you could want to use. I found myself riffing the Ed Sheeran track with my friends on the course [Josh decided we should do it]. Practise and recording being a primary part of the overall degree. I've got acoustic guitar and full bass part down although it does have some elements of 'Rupert The Bear'. 'There's a little bear'.........Like you've never seen before, Who's a lot of fun. Children everywhere Grow to love him more and more he's the number one. What with that and the people who are suing him [i'm told allegedly] i'd just at the time wandered if Sir Paul McCartney knew?

The basis of having being around quality world class musicians with access to new raw talents and studio pros is outstanding and amazing what you learn. Sat there watching bass players play all the strings, i guess i'd better do it as well. Sports drummers are abundant and happy to class myself as one. What are they? Just like sports singers, keyboard players and guitarists, because there's lots of us. If you've ever been in the shower, held a set of imaginary sticks or rolled on your back with an air guitar [that's you]. I'd rather save money and pay for the people who aren't.
